Junior Public Accountant

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare specific work papers and tax forms as part of a team
  • Test client financial information
  • Learn auditing and tax research techniques

Skills Required:

  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Desire to learn more about tax and accounting

Senior Public Accountant

Responsibilities:

  • In charge of planning attestation and tax engagements
  • Supervising junior staff and reporting to a manager or directly to a partner
  • Responsible for the quality of the work papers including support for GAAP and tax positions

Skills Required:

  • Great communication and time management skills
  • Solid understanding of both GAAP and tax
  • CPA license or progress towards licensure
  • 2-3 years of experience in public accounting

Public Tax Accountant

Tax accountants are tasked with federal and state income tax return preparation for all types of entities, preparing estimated federal and state income tax payments, prepare workpapers for various book to tax differences, prepare the income tax provision, tax research projects, assist in tax planning and analysis, and prepare other various tax filings and projects as they arise. Tax accountants are expected to maintain required level of technical knowledge and keep abreast of current developments in the tax area. Public Tax Senior/Manager

Tax seniors/managers should possess strong communication and analytical skills. They also are expected to stay up to date with industry and IRS tax regulations. A tax manager’s responsibilities would include reviewing corporate, passthrough, individual, non-profit and fiduciary tax returns for completeness and accuracy, tax research and planning with regards to current tax impact of proposed entity activities and transactions, implementing strategies to minimize entity tax liability in accordance with current tax laws, recommend tax strategies by researching federal and state taxation issues to minimize tax payments, complete required tax reporting in a timely manner, review tax provision schedules, research the basis for tax positions to be taken, advise clients of the tax impact of tax strategies.
